The Morning Routine That Changed My Life

I have said it before but I am obsessed with my morning routine. I find it so valuable to tap into your morning and to start your day off right.

My morning routine had to include: indulgence, nourishment, centering, and creativity.

Indulgence:

Life feels so darn busy these days that personally, the ultimate indulgence is simply slowing down and appreciating the present moment. My morning indulgences is a big cup of hot coffee that I sit and sip slowly. I absolutely savor this time, nothing is as good as the first cup of coffee. Having that little moment of just pure enjoyment starts my day off on the happiest foot possible.

 

Nourishment:

Every morning I eat either a smoothie, granola and oat milk, or oatmeal. In addition, I always have a little glass of kombucha. I never was one for skipping breakfast or for fast food but by taking the time to eat a nourishing meal definitely helps me make healthier choices throughout the day.

 

Centering:

Beyond my cup of coffee this is the part of my day that is an absolutely necessity and will dictate the rest of my day. Every morning I sit and I meditate. We all know that meditation is good for us. There have been plenty of scientific and woo-woo studies that show the benefits of quieting and centering the mind. I knew all of this and I was still amazed at the difference meditation made in my life. By taking 5, 10, 20 minutes to sit and do a guided meditation or listen to binaural music I am able to have more grace, more compassion, and more patience throughout the remainder of my day. I urge you to try out a meditation practice of your own. Give it a month and I can guarantee you will feel the difference. Creativity:

Creativity is a big part of my life. Sadly though, it is the first thing that gets pushed aside when life gets busy. Every morning as a part of my routine I make sure to take time to flex my creative muscles. This comes in a lot of different forms: drawing, lettering, planning out insta posts, or writing for the blog. By taking this time to get creative I often have more drive and inspiration to do these things after work as well!
