Are you sick of hearing the words “polar vortex” yet? Well imma talk about it for a minute. The polar vortex had us Midwesterners homebound and stuck inside due to a huge amount of snow and record-breaking cold temps. The positive to all of this is it allowed me to pour time into my personal practice. What once made me uncomfortable is beginning to feel like home.Read More
Speaking candidly, I used to hate hot yoga. I couldn’t breathe, would get sweat in my eyes, quickly grow frustrated (I blame the heat), and all around leave crankier than when I began.
Now, it is a different story. I love hot yoga. I find that my body craves the heat, flows better, feels stronger, and is able to sink deeper into poses.Read More
With the holidays and the studio being closed some days I had the opportunity to lead my own practices at home. It was awesome to sit back and reflect on how far my practice has come this past year since really committing my time and energy to going to classes and flowing at home. I am encouraged and so excited to see what this year of yoga will bring.
Whew! A rough week at work had me pulled to my mat nearly every day! As the days get colder and darker hot yoga is rapidly becoming a favorite class of mine!Read More
This week had me pulled to my mat every single day. Even days I didn’t plan to do yoga, I found myself on my mat. It came primarily in the form of self-guided practice as opposed to studio time which is a rarity for me. I know as schedules get busy during this holiday season I probably won’t get as much studio time in and instead will have to be flexible with my practice (pun intended).Read More
You ever have one of those weeks where despite your best efforts you fall just a teeny short of your ideal or goals? That was me this week. Despite every intention of #yogaeverydamnday some days life got in the way.
Typically what I have found with yoga is that people initially fall in love with it because of how it makes them feel. They come to the mat looking to relax, to heal, or to get in shape. They fall in love with how they feel during and after class. After some time this love tends to deepen and you begin to explore all the facets of yoga.
What I love most about yoga is just how much you can learn. Yoga, in all of its limbs, is an incredible teacher. Today, I am sharing the biggest lessons I have learned both on and off the mat.Read More
This was one of your run of the mill, standard weeks, I made all of my classes without hiccups and enjoyed each and every one of them! Hot yoga, something that at one point was a struggle, is now one of my favorite aspects of my practice. As an added bonus Mr. Mindful and my brother joined me for my Saturday morning vinyasa flow practice.Read More
Sometimes less time on the mat allows for the practice of gratitude for the time you do get. This was one of those weeks (feels like I have been saying that a lot lately) where I did not get to spend as much time as I would have liked on my mat. However, the time that I did get to spend was filled with a deep sense of gratitude and peace.Read More
Some weeks just aren’t your weeks you know? This week had sore backs, lack mat time, and a jumbled schedule. But I am so appreciative of the time I did get on my mat.Read More
Oh heyyyy! Been a weird week of super intense yoga classes and opportunity to be flexible with my schedule and learning to let go.
I had the opportunity to learn from my future yoga teacher training teacher and it was an awesome experience! I also had some work things that came up and went late so I was not able to practice during the week the way I usually do. But, flexibility and flow are what it’s all about s it was a great opportunity to practice those things!Read More
Baby I am back! Between ending last week with a brutal cold that turned into an ear infection and a high stress week at work it is a miracle that I found time for my yoga practice every damn day.
I am super proud of myself because I definitely could have used work or lingering symptoms as an excuse but instead I found my Yoga has taught me to slow when I need to slow but also to listen to my body and let it guide me and this week I did just that.Read More
Man, it is not summer vacation anymore. Between starting work, back to school night, and a local art show I struggled to get to as many classes as I would like. However, it did give me the opportunity to do some self-led practice!Read More
Last week of summer fun before school gets back in session. While I am excited to meet my new first grade friends I am indefinitely sad that I will not be able to attend the same yoga classes that shaped my summer. In some exciting news I enrolled in 200hr YTT to begin in January! As a part of the enrollment the studio “gives” you 108 free classes. I plan to take advantage of each and every one of them and really make time to do yoga every day during the school year!Read More
